Computer Technology Institute & Press “Diophantus”

The Computer Technology Institute and Press "Diophantus" is a research and technology organization focusing on research and development in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Particular emphasis is placed on education, by developing and deploying conventional and digital media in education and lifelong learning; publishing printed and electronic educational materials; administrating and managing the Greek School Network; and supporting the organization and operation of the electronic infrastructure of the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and all educational units. Since its establishment in 1985, and in the past decades of rapid technological development, CTI has actively contributed to many of the advances that today are taken for granted.

CTI is the Project Coordinator and the leading partner for all IT related tasks (e-learning platform, apps for Android and IOS, e-commerce platform) of the SKIFF project.

 

Vasilis Delis, PhD

Received his Diploma in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, 1993, an M.Sc. in Geographic Information Systems (with distinction) from the University of Edinburgh, 1995, and a PhD in the area of Geographic Information Handling from the University of Patras, 1999.

His research lies in the areas of data/spatiotemporal data management, ICT in education & e-learning, published in acclaimed journals and conferences. He has taught database and software engineering courses at the University of Patras and the Hellenic Open University.

He is the Deputy Director of the Educational Technology Sector at the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute, GR, conducting applied research under national and EU funding.

 

Stavroula Sokoli, PhD

Is a researcher on Audiovisual Translation and Language Learning with more than 20 publications on the subject. She has initiated and coordinated the EU-funded projects LeViS.cti.gr (2006-2008) and ClipFlair.net (2011-2014) and collaborates with the Academic and Research Excellence Initiative in Greece at Computer Technology Institute & Press "Diophantus".

Stavroula teaches Spanish at the Hellenic Open University and gives subtitling courses at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

She also works as a freelance subtitler and conference interpreter.

Ioanna Kanellopoulou, MEng

Is a computer engineer with a specialization in Education. She designs educational software, specializes in creating lesson plans and is interested in implementing new technologies in education. Her Msc is in “Technologies of Informatics and Communications in Education” and she has a MEng from the Polytechnical School of University of Patras “Computer Engineering and Informatics Department”.

She did an internship in Paris for 3 months in "Laboratoire Education et Apprentissages" at the university Paris Descartes and now she works at the Computer Technology Institute in Patras.

 

Panayiotis Payiatis, MA

Is a multimedia/interface designer and digital artist. He designs interfaces and UX for digital media and the internet, digital video and photography. He is with CTI, Patras, since 2012, with roles as interface designer/UX expert in EU research projects and Greek Minister of Education projects.

He has cooperated with DB Databank, Athens, from 2007 to 2010, as an interface/interaction designer. He has an MA in Digital Arts (2012), at the Athens School of Fine Arts, a BEng in Products and Systems Design Engineering from University of the Aegean (2007), and is currently pursuing a second MPhil at the department of Philosophy, University of Patras.

Maria Kalantzi, MEng

Has a Diploma from the Polytechnical School of University of Patras “Computer Engineering and Informatics Department” and she is currently pursuing her M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering. She is a junior research associate of the Internet Technologies Laboratory of Computer Engineering and Informatics Department.

Her research interests include Recommender Systems, Big Data Mining and Machine Learning. Her first research findings have been published in the "Web Intelligence, Mining and Semantics" international conference.

Furthermore, since 2012 she has been working at Computer Technology Institute & Press "Diophantus" as a Software Engineer and also as a freelance Web Developer for a number of greek advertising agencies since 2010.
